Even before the former Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye-led eleven-member committee, set up by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) settles to investigate the party’s heavy loss in the just-ended 2024 general elections, a poll has popped up seeking to promote one of the National Executives, Justin Kodua, the General Secretary, over the others.
The yet-to-be released polls suspected to have been commissioned by elements closer to the General Secretary and shared amongst friends and family members to act as respondents scored Justin Kodua a whopping 53% of the 404 respondents who rated him as the most efficient national officer.
It also rated the NPP General Secretary 52.3% out of the 407 respondents as the most Active National officer.
This poll, insiders say, if the organisers who are suspected to be close to Kodua are not called to order, would further divide the already divided front of the National Executives, which would eventually overshadow and make people uncooperative with the committee investigating the party’s abysmal performance in the just ended elections.
The committee has been given three months to complete its work and report back to the National Council of the party.
Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party’s General Secretary, during the inauguration of the committee, said the committee’s terms of reference include reviewing the internal elections and campaign strategy, identifying the challenges that led to the electoral defeat, and proposing solutions.
