The Volta Regional Police Command, has arrested one more suspect in connection with the robbery and murder of a mobile money vendor, Christopher Ahordor, on April 28, 2025, at Aflao.
The latest suspect, 65-year-old Mr Happy Sewordor, believed to be the father of an earlier-arrested suspect, Michael Sewornu, was picked up by the Police around 0200 hours on Saturday, May 18, 2025.
A search conducted in Sewordor’s residence led to the recovery of four single-barrel cap guns, one locally manufactured pistol, 14 empty AAA cartridges, one BB cartridge, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and suspected illicit drugs, including Tramadol.
According to Police sources, the weapons and drugs were allegedly collected by Happy Sewordor from a property in Aflao, believed to belong to his son, Michael Sewornu.
He was arraigned in court on Wednesday, May 22, and subsequently remanded into prison custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
He is expected to reappear in court on June 16, 2025.
This brings the total number of arrests in connection with the case to eight.
On May 12, the Police Anti-Armed Robbery Unit at the CID Headquarters in Accra arrested three more suspects — Hadi Sulley (22), Ewe Abraham, alias Wale (25), and Eric Dordzinu (25).
They were transferred to the Volta Regional Police Command on May 14, and arraigned on May 19.
All three were also remanded into prison custody and will reappear in court on June 16.
Earlier on May 14, suspects Korku Agboada, Utsuku Onyeso, and Michael Sewornu were remanded into prison custody following their initial arrests.
The case involving these suspects had also been adjourned to June 16.
A fourth suspect, Atsu Agbagla, was granted Police enquiry bail but remained under investigation.
DSP Felix Danku of the Volta Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, confirmed the arrests and expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation.
He reaffirmed the Police’s commitment to ensuring public safety and intensifying efforts to combat crime in the region.
