The Inquirer can report that the man at the centre of a National Security operatives’ joint operation with the Police and Military arrest at the Aurora Apartments in Kanda, near the Jubilee House, in Accra, businessman Ben Peters, is now a Ghanaian.

He has been a citizen of the country since last year.

Handlers of the former Nigerian business mogul say that Ben Peters has gone through all the processes required of a foreigner to naturalise, and had been before a judge to swear his allegiance to Ghana.

“My brother, the man they are treating like that is a fellow Ghanaian. He went before a judge to change his nationality, so tell all those still describing him as a Nigerian that they are not informed,” one of Mr. Peters handlers told the Inquirer yesterday during the melee at the entrance to his house.

Led by the dreaded Richard Jakpa and the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande—the businessman, along with some unidentified armed men, were arrested for reportedly blocking the entrance to the residential facility with his vehicles, denying access to other occupants of the apartment complex.

The Police have since released Mr. Peters, along with some individuals close to him, but this paper gathered his vehicles have been seized by National Security.

Commenting on the operation, Mustapha Gbande, said: “He has blocked the place such that no individual can go in or come out. Nobody can come into our country and take our people into this ransom. It is illegal and unlawful. This cannot be done in Nigeria and certainly not in this country.”
